Intro to Microcontrollers - Arduino
Microcontrollers are small computer-like devices that allow you to use simple programs to monitor and control almost anything you can imagine. These devices are in most of the intelligent devices we purchase now, such as coffee makers, toys, to medical devices. An Arduino is a common open-source microcontroller used by makers, hackers, and inventors to prototype their ideas and inventions. This class will teach you the basics of how to program an Arduino microcontroller to make your own intelligent devices.
The class fee for this class includes a materials fee for both an Arduino Uno and an Arduino Mega. You will get to keep these devices when you complete the class.
You will learn:
- How to set up the Arduino drivers and programming environment on your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
- How to program the Arduino to blink an LED light on and off.
- How to write more complex programs to monitor and control things like motors, thermometers, and switches.
- How to upload your program to the Arduino device and test its operation.
